HAVE A TAX BILL YOU CANT PAY?

If you owe back taxes and can't pay it.  Use the resolutions firms as a last resort. In many cases they offer services that you could have done yourself. Try filing an Offer In Compromise yourself.  This will save a couple of thousand not including the money you save if the Offer is Accepted. Please note, the acceptance rate is about 40% but some of you have nothing to lose.

Below is a great link to help you do it yourself.

HOW TO CHECK REFUND STATUS AND REFUND DELAY WARNINGS

When checking the status, you must have your refund amount, filing status and the number in your street address ready before checking. You can check the status of return as follow:

IRS
 ·         Calling 800-829-1954
       ·         Visiting their website:  https://www.irs.gov/refunds
  • Downloading the mobile app called IRS2GO on your phone.

California

·         Visiting their website: https://www.ftb.ca.gov/refund/index.asp

·         Downloading the mobile app FTBMOBILE on your phone

EXPECT DELAYS

One again the IRS is delaying your refund if you are claiming the Earned Income or Additional Child Tax Credit as precautionary measure to check for fraud.  Thought it is a hassle, it’s for a protection.   Expect these refunds form the IRS to arrive around the first part of March or end of February. I recommend that you check the status towards the end of February.

Below is a link from last year that explains it.
